Many brands of cosmetics are imported in Nepal from India, US, and European countries like France, England and Germany. However, quality products are only available if the customers are able to pay for them. Most beauty parlors in Kathmandu provide Hair cutting, make up facials, massage wax, and Juro(a nepali hairstyle for ladies). However, beauty parlors run by ladies provide their services to ladies only. The barbor shops or hair salons run by men offer services to all, and generally specialize on hair cuts. The salons also offer regular beauty parlour services like haircuts, facials, manicures and pedicure services.
There is even a gay beauty salon that has been opened for the first time in Nepal and has been hailed as an "opportunity" to support sexual minorities and empower the poor and marginalized. The Cutey Beauty Salon, run by gays and trans-genders, opened in Kathmandu's upmarket Lazimpat area, close to a thriving department store and a gallery.
