Metal work is outstanding in Nepal. Most of the statues in Nepal are made by metal. High quality sculptures are available in prices ranging from a few thousand rupees to gold inlaid life-sized works. Different methods are used to create these works of art.
The general way is to cover the wax figure with clay and put in the sun to dry. Once ready, the wax is melted out and molten metal poured into the clay hollow. When the metal cools down and sets, the clay covering is destroyed and careful worked with hammer, chisel and sanding material. The metal statue is then painted as per the specifications of the client.
