Mount Makalu lies in the eastern part of Nepal. It rises to 8463 m. above the sea level. Mr. Jean couzy from France scaled Mt. Makalu for the first time on May 15, 1955 via West Face. It is the world's fifth highest peak and situated 14 miles east of Mount Everest between Everest and Kanchenjunga, on the Nepali-Tibetan border. Its form - perfect pyramid with four sharp ridges - is one very distinctive features of Makalu. It is an isolated peak, located just 14 miles east of Mount Everest. Makalu is a very beautiful but extremely challenging and potentially dangerous mountain.
