The directives include:
Export Certification System
Certification of food safety and quality management system
Import Certification System
Import Certification of food.
 
Department of Livestock Services has enforced Animal Quarantine Working Procedure, 2007 to ensure WTO Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) standards.
 
The above mentioned rules, regulation, working procedures & standards are applicable to any country trading animal, animal products & animal production inputs with Nepal. The acts, regulations and standards have been enforced to regulate import & export of food and animal products; and to regulate trade of these items within the country; and to safeguard the health of human being and animals.  

Imported and domestic liquors and wines are available in all the hotels and bars. It is usually safe to drink boiled and filtered water.
